History
History
The site is an historical one which before the Civil War was occupied by someone active in the anti-slavery movement.
The present building was erected in 1923 and in 1968/9 was thoroughly rehabilitated by the present owner with completely new plumbing, heating, air-conditioning, electrical wiring, hardwood flooring, ceramic tiling, kitchens, baths, roofing, etc, etc. And, most importantly, since then it has continuously enjoyed attentive maintenance by the same owner.

About half the apartments have Franklin stove type wood-burning fireplaces. Some have private walled-in patios. And they all have separate eat-in kitchens, even the efficiencies.
There are hardwood floors, throughout, with a natural oak finish. Good closet space in each apartment is supplemented with a large walk-in closet in the basement (not a see-thru’ locker with chicken-wire mesh for walls). Coin operated washers and dryers are in the basement laundry room.

Security would be hard to surpass: there is a locked gate at the entrance to the courtyard, a locked door at the building entrances and a locked vestibule door. Tenants can admit guests, without leaving their apartments, via the intercoms at the front gate and at the entrance doors.
